Hello crafters! I’m honored to be writing my first post for Crafted in Joy and know we’ll be good friends in no time at all. Angelica has designed the cutest stamp sets recently, and right here is where we’ll be sharing those with you. So grab a cup of coffee, sit back, and enjoy seeing the first set.
Picking which set and project to share with you today was a tough one. Browsing the new releases, Sea Friends from Pretty Pink Posh grabbed my attention. The creatures, shells, and other sea items are perfect for creating scenes. Of course, I couldn’t stop with just one card, which gives me the opportunity to show two different ways to create backgrounds for your images.
When it comes to great stamp sets like Sea Friends, I prefer to stamp all of the images one or two times on Copic paper with Memento ink. Next, I color and cut out all of the images. Having matching cutting dies saves so much time! Having a variety of images to work with makes putting together a scene a breeze.
For the first card I punched a circle out of white cardstock. Distress Oxides are my go-to background maker. With the help of the ink applicator, I added blue to the top of the circle for water and yellow to the bottom for sand. These inks blend flawlessly. The end result is an easy yet gorgeous underwater scene.
The second card was just as easy. I stamped all of the images from the set onto white cardstock with black ink. The trick here is to start with the biggest images, add in the middle sized images, and then fill in any remaining spots with the smallest images. The bubbles and shells in Sea Friends are great for filling any gaps.
Once the background was completed, I arranged a few colorful images on top with a white, heat embossed sentiment. A last minute addition of vellum allowed the colored images to stand out from the busy background.
I can’t get enough of Sea Friends and hope you find it adorable too. Which background technique fits your style – Blended backgrounds or a stamped collage?
